Afterlife

Some backstory...

This short animation was done for CS1280: Intermediate Computer Animation at Brown University under the guidance of Professor Barbara Meier. It is a personal project that explores life and coming to terms with death, inspired after having spent over a year volunteering at a hospice.

Technical Breakdown

The process...

Software used were SideFX Houdini, Cinema4D, and Autodesk Maya. The video goes into detail on how some of the key animation sequences were done.

Research and Development

Proof of concept...

A key concept used in my animation was differential mesh growth. I first used Houdini to create a node network, and then I later expanded upon that by driving the animation with audio.
